HVTL has achieved an enviable reputation as preferred laboratory with an excellent accreditation of MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 by the Department of Standard Malaysia to deliver most comprehensive tests in the industry. Marking its path through the international recognition, HVTL is certified by ILAC-MRA to enhance the acceptance of the results across national borders, thereby creating a framework to support international trade through the removal of technical barriers.

  • Winding Resistance
  • Voltage Ratio & Check of Phase Displacement
  • No Load Loss and No-Load Current
  • Short Duration Induced AC Withstand Voltage Test
  • Short Circuit Impedance and Load Loss
  • Separate Source AC Withstand Voltage Test
  • Partial Discharge

HVTL can test all kinds of Medium Voltage transformers either cast resin or oil type with the capability as below :

  • Maximum Voltage     : Maximum voltage up to 36 kV
  • Maximum Power       : 3500 kVA
  • Temperature Rise
  • ·Lightning Impulse

To prove that the transformer meets customer’s specifications and design expectations, some transformer tests are carried out for confirming the basic design expectation of that transformer. These tests are done usually in a prototype unit not in all manufactured units in a lot. Type test of transformer confirms main and basic design criteria of a production lot.

At HVTL, our equipment can do the type test up to:

 a) Temperature Rise

  • Maximum Voltage      :  36 kV
  • Maximum Power        :  3500 kVA
  • Maximum Current      :  150 A (Rated Current of primary winding)

b) Lightning Impulse

  •       Maximum Voltage    :  400 kV
  • Lightning Impulse
  • Power Frequency
  • Partial Discharge

Verification in switchgear type test is one of the most critical in determining the reliability and long service capability of a switchgear functionality. This matter must not be overlooked as it can develop problems that lead to assets damage and person injury.

For this type test, our equipment capability as below:

  • Lightning Impulse    : Maximum voltage up to 400 kV
  • Power Frequency     : Maximum voltage up to 100 kV
  • Partial Discharge     : Maximum voltage up to 100 kV

  • Ratio Error
  • Phase Displacement Error

Accuracy Class is a designation assigned to a current transformer where the errors remain within specified limits under prescribed conditions of use.
In an ideal current transformer, the current in the secondary winding will reflect the actual primary current without current ratio error or phase displacement. However, under normal conditions, there will be current ratio error and phase displacement between primary and secondary currents.

HVTL can verify the accuracy test for current transformer as below :

  • Accuracy class = 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1, 0.2S, 0.5S

  • Starting Test
  • No Load Test
  • Limit of Error Test
  • Meter Constant (Energy Test)

Energy meters form a vital instrument of revenue realization for the distribution utilities. Thus,  a need to ensure a high degree of performance and reliability from the meters has become important. The meters are tested to ensure proper working and that the accuracy is to be maintained within permissible limits.

HVTL can verify the routine test for meter as below :

  • Accuracy class = 0.2S, 0.5S, 1 & 2
