Lightning Impulse Lab
HVTL’s Lightning Impulse Laboratory is fully equipped to perform high-voltage insulation testing in accordance with IEC 60060-1. The test setup is adaptable and can be tailored to suit a wide range of high-voltage products, with a particular focus on transformers and switchgear.
The lightning impulse test system is used to evaluate the insulation performance of equipment by simulating standard lightning impulse waveforms. It helps determine the dielectric breakdown level of insulation materials and verify compliance with the Basic Insulation Level (BIL) requirements.
This test is critical to ensure that electrical equipment can withstand transient overvoltages such as lightning strikes or switching surges in real-world conditions.
